New School of Discipleship Class: What We Believe
God’s truth is simple enough for a child to understand sufficiently, yet rich enough for a life time of study and more. What We Believe is a new School of Discipleship class designed for Christians seeking a deeper understanding of their faith, and for seekers who are curious about the Christian faith. We will explore central Christian beliefs such as the
Trinity, the Creation of mankind in God’s image, the fall of mankind, God’s plan of redemption, the person of Christ, how individuals are saved, the
church, and last-things. The class is scheduled to begin Sunday mornings at 9:15 AM in the fellowship hall. The class is slated to run from September 12th until some time in February. Part I will be taught by seminary intern Nick Policow; Part II by pastoral assistant Aaron Turner. All are welcome!

The Giving Tree
It is that time of year again! Now is the time for you or your prayer group to start thinking about brightening Christmas by providing the gift of food for Christmas. By next Sunday there will be a tree in the Delmar entrance with paper ornaments that have numbers on them.. The number shows how many people live in that household. Nearby is a basket.Take a tag, put your name and your phone number on one and place it in the basket and keep the other one for yourself. This year we are asking for desserts as well as the rest of the fixings for a meal as well anything else you may
like to send along to make it special.
The deadline for taking an ornament is December12. Distribution is Saturday, December 18 in the morning, so all baskets must be at the church by 10:00 AM. Once again the Youth Group is going to help deliver them.
FYI as of this writing, 96% of the list are our brother and sisters in our congregation and the rest are friends who we as a church have ministered to over the years for various reasons. The list may not be complete yet. Thanks in advance for your generosity!

Advent Festival!
Advent Festival: December 5
Please be sure to make plans to join us for the
annual Advent Festival. On Sunday, December 5,
the second Sunday of Advent, we’ll have a pot luck
chili supper immediately after worship. After the
meal we’ll cut out sugar cookies for dessert. Those
of you with Christmas traditions or activities you
want to share, can set up around the room. The
families will move from table to table enjoying your
different ideas. If you or your family have a
Christmas tradition to demonstrate or share, bring
your stuff on December 5, and we’ll be sure to set
you up at a table. Activities we have had in the past
have been: making advent wreaths, candy houses,
Christmas cards, and ornaments. We have also
enjoyed Christmas carols, a cooking demonstration,
and a book collection. Call Deb Eisenbraun at 241-
4202. Amy Kennedy and Eric Bryan’s prayer groups
are hosting. Please bring chili, veggies and dip, or
tortilla chips to serve 12 to 15.
