visit Pastor Ron Young’s Church in East St. Louis.
We have had one offer of somebody
preparing a meal for us during this lengthy event.
We would appreciate two or three other meals, and
they don’t have to be dinner but lunch or breakfast.
Thanks in advance for your support!
New Orleans trip canceled
We have a change of plans regarding the summer missions trip. The youth group leadership team has determined that a trip to New Orleans in the summertime heat would not be suitable for us. We probably lack the necessary skills to do the work they'd like us to attempt in New Orleans, and there would be fewer senior high aged youth on this trip. As a result, we may not be able to put in a satisfactory work day as they might expect. And our purpose is missions minded, not to be a tourist in New Orleans, so we are making alternate plans to do something in Saint Louis. We will announce the details later in April, however, we are contemplating a youth 'retreat' held at church and combining it with local service projects in late June.
2011 mission trip planned
Lord willing, we will head to New Orleans, LA in June 2011. Stay tuned.Candy bars funding NYC trip
Dear Youth Group:I'm telliin' ya, it's really effortless. I put a box of chocolate candy bars on the corner of my desk at work. By day's end I sold 5 candy bars. I posted the cost at 75 cents but everyone gave me a dollar since it is non-profit. This is stuff people are going to buy anyway, so it's real easy.
Now I know toting a box around someplace will be a bit more labor intensive than me sitting it on my desk corner, but think of this.
30 candy bars - costs $15
5 candy bars per day @ $1.00 each= $5.00/day
In a good week I double my money. Furthermore - think of this - at this rate between now and April I will raise enough to send one person to NYC. This is something your folks could help you with and it requires little effort if they do the same thing at their work.
For those of you who need a ride to Sam's Club to pick up a box, let me know. I will be headed back for more myself.
Pax,
David Holden
