Kids Ministry

In full collaboration and engaged community, the members of Grace and Peace will pour into the lives, hearts and minds of our youngest members by showing them to the best of our ability how good our God is! We will do this by teaching them scripture and how it changes our lives, and by training them to pass along this good news to others.

To this end, Grace and Peace Kids Ministry commits to serve parents in their task of discipling their children, and to create a safe place for the whole community to know, teach and serve our littlest members together.

Offerings

  • Our Sunday School class, called SonDance, meets most Sunday mornings September through May from 9:15-10:10. Children, ages 4-11, work through the Bible using the Dwell Curriculum from Faith Alive Christian Resources in age-appropriate classes.

At the beginning of this hour we encourage all Sunday School attendees–adults, youth and kids–to gather on the second floor for a time of singing, memorization and prayer before dividing into our respective classes.

  • The Grace & Peace Nursery meets every Sunday from 10:15 AM through the end of our worship service (between 12:00 to 12:15).

All children ages 6 months through age 3 are welcome. When you arrive at our building, a Host can show you how to find the Nursery.

Check-in is on the landing of the second floor.

  • Children at Grace & Peace are encouraged to worship and follow the liturgy with their parents/guardians. During the sermon, children ages 4-7 may participate in a 35-minute lesson from the Gospel Project curriculum by Lifeway. Children are escorted from the sanctuary to the classrooms by their teachers, and delivered back to the sanctuary in time for families to participate in the Lord’s Supper together.

Those children who wish to stay in the service are very welcome! We provide worship bags with coloring utensils, activity and coloring pages that are relevant to the sermon (or to the Busy Bees’ Lesson) and quiet things to fiddle with, like pipe cleaners. These are available in the narthex.

We love having children in our service!

  • It is our job to create an environment of safety and accountability for our community, especially for our children.

To this end we have vetted our volunteers and arranged all our Children’s Ministry programming, routines and environments to prohibit any independent one-on-one time between children and adults.

We do not do this out of fear, judgement or suspicion, but out of love for our children and for one another.
